The Cultural Arts Project has been running for 5 years. It is delivered in Partnership with the Camden Bangladesh Mela, and other groups and organisations from across Camden. The Projects are co-ordinated by the Mary Ward Centre and aim to give local people the opportunity to develop their skills and creativity whilst learning about Bangladesh and its culture. The pieces have been exhibited at the British Museum amongst other places.
The art pieces represent important aspects of Bangladesh, inspired by imagery that includes transport, culture, environment, celebrations and communities. They have been designed and made by groups and individuals incorporating mixed media art techniques such as printmaking, metal embossing, 3D design, mosaic, embroidery, applique, and embellishment. Some of the work fuses imagery from Britain and Bangladesh bringing together communities from different backgrounds.
The works are colourful, inspirational, fun and life size pieces that have helped to widen participation in adult learning opportunities through the arts.
This is not a bookable event.
